Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

Overview

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the world and a monumental piece of architectural artistry, deliberately combining elements from various Islamic architectural traditions. The mosque boasts 82 domes, over 1,000 columns, chandeliers gilded with 24-carat gold, and the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet. The main prayer hall is highlighted by one of the world’s largest chandeliers.

The mosque was constructed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to symbolize historical significance and embody the Islamic principles of peace, tolerance, and diversity. His vision for the Grand Mosque was to create a modern architectural masterpiece that connects the past with the present while serving as a center for Islamic education and a reflection of true Islamic values.
